1958 – Interbank Tournament

Interbank Invitation1

The first Interbank Tournament Invitation

The Interbank Tournament developed from a match that Terry Lennox had organised between CBA and the Rural Bank. Rural also played against CBCo, (Commercial Banking Co of Sydney – now defunct). A meeting was held in an attempt to have the other banks join the movement, which of course was successful.

The first Interbank Tournament was held on 20th March 1958 at The Lakes Golf Club and was hosted by The Corporation (now CBA). The Tournament was held twice yearly until 1986 when it was changed to a yearly event. The tournament is now usually held during the month of March.

There are 4 trophies played for at the Interbank Tournament, 2 teams (Scratch best 5 of 8 cards and Handicap best 10 of 14 cards) and 2 Individual, Scratch and Handicap.
