The Sydney vs Newcastle is another event that takes place once a year during the month of February. Players from the CBA Sydney team compete against players from the CBA Newcastle region where the team with the higher team aggregate average score is deemed the winner of the match.

Both teams compete for the perpetual trophy named “Lea Thomson  Trophy” after Lea Thomson who was a CBA manager in the Newcastle region donated the trophy at its inaugural event back in 1961.
